4 Aloe Vera DIY Face Masks
Posted on February 10 2020

It's DIY time! Let's have some fun with one of our favourite ingredients. Aloe Vera Gel!
Who doesn’t love a night at home doing a DIY face mask while watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn?
They do make for a fun night, but are you using the right ingredients for your type of skin?
We are going to share with you 4 simple recipes to help with different skin types using one common ingredient, aloe vera gel!
The aloe plant is not the prettiest plant to look at. That’s ok, because the inside of these spikey leaves is where it’s at. Aloe Vera has been used for centuries in healing and skincare. The gel inside each leaf is packed full of antioxidants, vitamins A, C, E and B12, amino acids, enzymes, and is anti-inflammatory.
Some of the many benefits of aloe vera gel are:
- it helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles
- reduce redness
- heal scaring and burns
- the ultimate ingredient to provide hydration to the skin.
Before we get into the recipes for your spa night in, let’s go over the best way to extract the gel from the plant.
There are a few ways to do this, however, I find this the fastest and easiest.
1. Cut 2-3 long spikey leaves from the base
2. Cut each spike into 4” pieces (easier to handle)
3. Lay flat and slice down the spine of the leaf
4. Gently peel open with your fingers and with a spoon, scrape and scoop out the gel.
5. Put the gel into a bowl and blend together with a hand blender. You can add a few drops of oil to help it blend
Now for the fun part, let’s make some masks.
